TAMBUNAN: The decision to field Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan for Tambunan state seat is to ensure continued strength of Barisan Nasional (BN) in the interiors, said Sabah BN chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman.
Despite Pairin’s earlier retirement plans, Musa explained how he had discussed the matter with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak about requesting the Huguan Siou (Kadazandusun Murut paramount leader) to continue being a candidate for the 14th General Election (GE14).

“Pairin’s participation in the election can assist in strengthening BN, especially in the interior (division), and he (Pairin) has agreed to this after discussion with him,” he said during a gathering with the people programme at Dataran Pisompuruan near here today.

About 3,000 attended the event, where Musa also urged the people to continue being united for the stability of the state.
In Keningau town earlier, Musa urged Sabah Umno and BN members to embrace the spirit of the ‘Onsoi’ slogan to ensure victory in GE14.
‘Onsoi’ which means all good in Murut, is a phrase that reflects the spirit of the people in the interior division and should be utilised by BN members to win back the people’s mandate.
He said this at a meeting with the Pensiangan Umno committee members led by Datuk Abdul Ghani Yassin.

“Even (Datuk Seri) Najib now knows and understands the essence of the word ‘Onsoi’ for the people in the interiors of Sabah and now it’s getting more popular among the people in Peninsular Malaysia,” Musa said.

In the meeting he reminded BN members to cooperate with each other and set aside their differences as the coalition adhered to a policy where it does not condone to having enemies from within or thorn in the flesh.

“All BN members are part of one big family that now has one target which is to win the election.

“Any form of action taken by members should be conducted while bearing in mind the spirit of unity to win the polls,” he stressed.
Musa also met with the Keningau Umno committee members in a meeting led by Liawan incumbent Datuk Sairin Karno.

He also touched base with Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup and Sook incumbent Datuk Ellron Alfred Angin, urging both to continue cooperating with each another and go all out to defend Pensiangan and Sook seats.
